What is Work Conditioning?
This is physical therapy treatment for worker’s compensation patients that is much more aggressive and physically demanding than classic Physical Therapy. This is usually used if the patient has a more physically demanding job, and has reached a point where their injury is healed, but they are not yet physically prepared to return to the full time physical demands of their job. The concern is no longer specifically rehabbing an injured body part, but is focused on increasing the patient’s physical capacity of their full duty job.
Work Conditioning visits are typically much longer in duration (3+ hours each) and in frequency (3-5 days per week). This is a transition phase to physically prepare them for the strength and endurance demands of working full time at their position. It also allows patients to return to work safely with lower risk of re-injury.
What is Occupro?
It is a specialized documentation and testing system designed to help Worker’s Compensation patients return to work as quickly and safely as possible. Our therapists in our Injured Worker Specialty Centers are trained in this system and are experts in Return to Work rehab.
The software uses a research-based algorithm that computes what percent of their job each patient is currently capable of performing. This software makes clinical decision making much easier for the PT, the referring doctor, and the case manager.
The software will also alert the providers if and when the patient is appropriate for Work Conditioning.
